The legal landscape in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan operates a civil law system with significant Russian-law heritage, progressively reformed since independence. The legal framework is codified in the Civil Code, the Law on Business Partnerships and Companies (No. 60 of 15 November 1996), the Banking Law, the Law on Subsoil, and a range of sector-specific regulatory instruments.

The primary official legal database is cbd.minjust.gov.kg, maintained by the Ministry of Justice.

Kyrgyzstan is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which has harmonised certain aspects of customs, trade, and regulatory law across member states — a relevant consideration for multi-jurisdictional transactions involving Kazakhstan.
