Employment & Labour Law in Uzbekistan
Bond Stone advises international employers and multinational companies on employment and labour law in Uzbekistan — employment contracts, termination and redundancy procedures, work permits, and compliance with the Uzbekistan Labour Code. Bond Stone's Tashkent office provides direct access to Uzbek labour authorities and courts.
A new Labour Code has applied since 30 April 2023, with rules on fixed-term contracts, electronic employment records, remote work and flexible working. It binds foreign-invested enterprises as it binds any Uzbek employer.
Primary authority: Labour Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, approved by Law No. ZRU-798 dated 28 October 2022 (in force 30 April 2023); Law on Employment No. ZRU-642 of 20 October 2020. Authority: lex.uz

Detailed Guides
Labour Code — Key Rules
Electronic employment record books
The employment record book may be on paper or electronic. The electronic book is kept in the Single National Labour System, and the employer must enter hiring, permanent transfer and termination (Art. 125).
Remote work — new framework
The new Labour Code introduced a dedicated legal framework for remote work in Uzbekistan — defining the rights and obligations of remote employees, requirements for remote work agreements, and the employer's obligations regarding equipment and connectivity. Bond Stone advises on remote work agreement drafting and compliance for international employers with Uzbek remote workers.
Fixed-term contracts
A fixed-term contract may run for at most three years (Art. 110), and only in the cases listed in Articles 112 and 113, such as replacing an absent employee, seasonal work, and foreign nationals working lawfully in Uzbekistan.
Flexible working time
The Labour Code provides for flexible working time arrangements — part-time work, flexible start/end times, and compressed working weeks. These arrangements must be documented in the employment contract or a supplementary agreement. Bond Stone advises on implementing flexible working arrangements that comply with the Code.
Experience
Bond Stone has advised international employers on employment law mandates in Uzbekistan across manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, construction, trading, and financial services sectors. Client confidentiality is maintained across all matters.
