ABOUT BOND STONE · CAREERS
Careers at Bond Stone
Bond Stone International Law Firm is ranked Legal 500 EMEA Top Tier and IFLR1000 Market Leader in Kazakhstan, with offices in Almaty (Esentai Tower), Astana (Talan Towers), Tashkent (Modera Business Centre), Bishkek, Kyiv, and Chicago. We recruit lawyers and legal professionals who want to build a career at the centre of Central Asia’s most active international legal market.
Bond Stone is a practitioner-led firm — every matter is handled directly by a senior lawyer. We do not run large associate pools or bill clients for junior work. The lawyers who join Bond Stone work on live transactions and regulatory mandates from day one, alongside partners, on cross-border M&A, AIFC licensing, foreign investment structuring, dispute resolution, and tax advisory matters across Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
What We Look For
Academic background
Law degree from a recognised university — KazGYU, KazNU, KIMEP, or international law schools. LL.M. from a common law jurisdiction is an advantage for AIFC and cross-border practice. Strong academic record required.
Languages
English is the working language of Bond Stone’s international practice — written and spoken fluency is required for all positions. Russian is required for Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan-focused roles. Kazakh is an advantage for Almaty and Astana positions. Chinese is a significant advantage given Bond Stone’s active Chinese investor mandate pipeline.
Practice focus
Bond Stone recruits across its core practice areas: M&A and corporate transactions; foreign investment and regulatory licensing; AIFC/AFSA matters; dispute resolution and arbitration; employment law; tax advisory; and data protection. Candidates with specific transactional or regulatory experience in these areas are prioritised.
Commercial orientation
Bond Stone advises international investors, not domestic individuals. Lawyers who join the firm are expected to understand how legal advice connects to commercial objectives — not just the technical legal position. The ability to communicate clearly and precisely in English, without hedging, is assessed at interview.
Autonomy and accountability
Bond Stone is a lean firm — there is no large back-office layer between lawyers and client work. Candidates who want close supervision and structured rotations will not be comfortable here. Candidates who want to take ownership of matters, develop client relationships, and advance quickly will be.
